The JWHA Board of Directors makes the following change recommendation to the bylaws to be voted on Thursday, September 20th at the Annual Business Meeting, Blue Springs, Missouri.
CHANGE: REGULAR MEETINGS
Explanation:
Current bylaws state we will hold two regular membership meetings in the years when Community of Christ World Conference is held. In a World Conference year, our two regular membership meetings are: 1) a spring banquet/membership meeting during World Conference and 2) a membership meeting in the fall.
Previous spring banquets have lost money with a lack of attendance and high costs of venues, food and beverage. The Board recommends changing the bylaws to require only one regular membership meeting in the years when World Conference is held. This change would not prevent JWHA from having a membership meeting, a social event, or some other function during World Conference. It simply means a second membership meeting will not be required in a World Conference year.

ARTICLE V – MEETINGS
Section 1. Regular meetings. During calendar years in which Community of Christ holds its World Conference, the Association shall hold two regular meetings of its members. One such regular meeting shall be held in conjunction with the above-mentioned World Conference. During calendar years in which no such World Conference is held, the Association shall hold one regular meeting of its members.
Section 2. Business Meetings. A business meeting of the members of the Association may be held in conjunction with any regular meeting of the Association, but an annual business meeting shall be held in conjunction with the regular meeting in the fall of each year. A business meeting may be held in conjunction with any special meeting of the members of the Association.
Section 3. Special Meetings. Special meetings of the members may be called by the president, the board of directors, or by petition of not less than one-tenth of the members having voting rights.
